Resource files are edited using the application ResEd (available from the AppBasic downloads page or from RISC OS Open)

Editing resource files

Resfile display
The contents of a resource file are templates from which the application's objects can be constructed. To display the contents of a resource file, in the manner of a Filer display, use any of the methods:
  • Drag the file onto ResEd's iconbar icon
  • Double-click the file
  • Ctl-double-click the application's icon in AppBasic's main window

Adding templates

Templates are added to a resfile by dragging from ResEd's Object Prototypes window onto the file's display.

The Object Prototypes window - which shows the available classes of Toolbox object - is opened by Adjust-double-clicking ResEd's iconbar icon.

Editing templates

A template is edited by double-clicking its entry in the ResEd display. This opens an edit dialogue box except in the case of windows and menus where a representation of the object is displayed; see User Interface Toolbox for the details.
